    My Rare Guitarticles December 2006

    Greetings!

Well, that WEBCAST sure was fun. If you missed it, catch some of the REPLAY. Thanks to Joey Leone's Chop Shop and Orchard Studios for helping to put this together...

...and back with another column, Joey Leone talks about the marriage of Artists and the guitars they made famous. Michael Wright shares his fond childhood accordian memories and Rob Roberge sets the record straight in Rob's Crazy EBAY Finds. This month's "Notable..." spot features some goofy vacation photos. Sorry, seeing NINE NINE NINE made me feel like a teenager again.

Artist Recognition - Guitars Fame by the Players Name

    by Joey Leone

Greetings my friend and fellow strummers in this months column I will discuss that in my opinion that Artist recognition is one of the most important aspect of guitar marketing. That is a statement I truly believe, and in this column I will trace the popularity of certain guitars and the artists that I believe are responsible for their success.

    Unexpected Eye Candy

By Michael Wright, The Different Strummer

Maybe it was the smarmy, frozen smiles thrust kind of aggressively into the camera. Or maybe it was because our PARENTS chose the TV programming. Not that there were very many options back in the day when you were lucky to get three network broadcasts, depending on where you lived. If you were lucky enough to have a TV.

Rob's Crazy EBAY finds... Myths and Misinformation

    by Rob Roberge

Myths and misinformation abound in the vintage guitar and amp world. Want to start a fight on line? Go to some gear forum and say, "This, without a doubt, is the amp Jimmy Page played on the first two Zep albums." The amp you use for this example could be a small single 6V6 Supro, a Supro Thunderbolt, a Fender Champ, or any number of others.

Did You Miss Last Month's WEBCAST?

    featuring Joey Leone's CHOP SHOP

For the hundreds of people that tuned in LIVE for the webcast last month, it was a blast. Joey Leone's Chop Shop cranked out some great old school Rock and Blues - they played for almost TWO HOURS! During the evening we introduced some new models and answered EMAIL questions.

Kirk Lorang - The Power of Chord Tones - 2

Kirk Lorang - The Power of Chord Tones - 2

Here's part 2 of the demo of the power of knowing the chords to a piece of music ... knowing then inside and out, all over the fretboard. This is the progression I used in the last article. In this movie, I'm playing double stops , not single notes. "Double stop" is a strange way of saying "two notes played at the same time" ... so in this version I'm hunting down pairs of chord tones from the progression, and playing them together. The result is a bunch of harmonized lines.

    NOTABLE...
    by Mike Robinson

Last month I took a trip to London - a little business, a little pleasure... OK, mostly pleasure! I went with three friends, played four rounds of golf, went to see five bands, had six great meals and had seven hangovers.
