The danger of infringement is extremely real. Generally speaking, a manufacture may create a similar product as another as long as the product does not create confusion within the general public. Since Hendrix is most associated with the Fender Stratocaster--an instrument quite different than Gibsons he was known to play--one can only assume that Gibson is trying to exploit the Fender name and is attempting to "fool" the public with that association. In my opinion, this product is in poor taste and blatant patent infringement. That it is an "entry-level" guitar is a further black eye to Fender. I'm stunned!
