| Something about that Burns Bison horn and pickguard that really turns me on. Batwing headstock, man, wow! Trisonic pickups, this guitar is a killer. This page is dedicated to those who see what I see, and obviously through the years many companies have tried to mimick the style, but only Burns London really got it. On the left is a NEW Burns Bison. This is one hell of a great guitar. Next to that are two sixties copies made by (or at least in the same factory that made) Ibanez. First is the Montclair, second is the HY-LO. As FatDog from Subway guitars in Berkeley, CA put it, "enough knobs and switches to satisfy NASA". In my opinion, these guitars are the crowning achievement of sixties Japanese cheese guitars. Who ever decided to call them cheese guitars anyway? They are SO COOL! I'd rather own one of these than some cranked out USA Made 1990's Fender "everyman" Strat. |

| Speaking of FatDog, I recently finally found the time to drive up to Berkeley and meet the man. Unfortunately, I had my 3 year old son Troy with me, so the meeting was too brief (I ran out of bubblegum which was keeping Troy occupied as I chated with FatDog). I look forward to our next meeting. If you ever get the chance, drop in to his store. The first thing you'll see is a couch and a chair. Sit down and relax. Look up and you will see (as FatDog put it), "over a quarter mile of wacky guitars lined up one by one for you viewing and playing pleasure". I spent the first 15 years of my "working" life making a living in high-tech, then I cashed in and turned on to my real passion, guitars. FatDog has been commited to guitars from birth. Hats off to the man. Anyway, Below are some other Burns styled guitars that took off on the Burns Pickguard appeal. On the left is the new Burns Marquee, next to that is a Norma, then a Yamaha, and last is an Aria Diamond. Damn cool pickguard, damn cool guitars. |
