One Man's Journey for Darkest of Tones
First of all, I promise that there is more to this than my
history as a musician, but it does set the backdrop for a
strange fascination that I've developed. I started out playing
bass with a high school hard rock band in 1982. I just wanted
to be in my friend's newly formed band and couldn't sing, play
guitar, or play drums.

cognoscenti as the State of Ohio guitar. I once wrote and
essay in which I dubbed it The Ugliest Guitar In The World.
All of us had a point. The real name, however, is the Kay Solo
King K4102, and it dates to that heady period just before
guitars really took off in 1960.

As you must know by now, when I improvise melody over a
piece of music, I don't think scales. I would have very little
success creating a solo over anything thinking scales. That's
not to say that others wouldn't ... but I wouldn't know where
to begin thinking along those lines, especially in a piece
like this that introduces a bunch of 'outside chords' into the
picture

only made 50 of these, unique serial number, mahogany
neck, flamed maple top, back, sides and three coil-tapped
Humbuckers. Think about that - the coil taps give you
everything from a clean, bright single coil to a full on
Humbucker, and can be setup in any combination with all three
pickups.
