| Greetings!
Well, things are growing FAST around here. Check out the review in GUITAR PLAYER Magazine this month and also take a
peek at our 50th Anniversary STRATOTONE tribute, the new AIRLINE H44.
This month Joey Leone unviels some Secrets of
Great Guitar Players, Michael
Wright checks out the KAY Titan, Rob Roberge is
back with some Crazy EBAY Finds and Kirk Lorange talks about the art of Soloing. New this month is the "Notable..." spot, where I'll underline anything worth
noting over the past 30 days or so... As always, enjoy!

This month's column will feature some of my favorite
vintage pedals and effects. These choices will be from my
point of view and experience, and as I cannot with expertise
speak about effects that I cannot use in the type of music I
play (which is blues, old school country, classic rock and
50's and 60's R&B). I again welcome all suggestions for
your favorite effects.

"Yeah," said the dealer, half in contempt, "and it's got
one of them there spigots." Spigots? He didn't realize I was a
pretty cool customer in those days, able to hide my curiosity
- but he'd gotten my attention. What the hell was a spigot?
"You know," he added, "you hook your pinky over it and get
tremolo." Done! That was my introduction to German electric
guitars. I was, so to speak, hooked!

As you must know by now, when I improvise melody over a
piece of music, I don't think scales. I would have very little
success creating a solo over anything thinking scales. That's
not to say that others wouldn't ... but I wouldn't know where
to begin thinking along those lines, especially in a piece
like this that introduces a bunch of 'outside chords' into the
picture

Hmmm... "What is that? Seafoam Green? I recognize that
pickguard, but from where? What is it!!!??" I'm
not telling today. But if you tune in the our WEBCAST you will
see it for yourself. We have a bunch of new EASTWOOD models to SNEAK PEEK on the November 7th WEBCAST. Plus, you'll
get to see and hear Joey Leone take them for a test
drive. DON'T MISS THIS EVENT!!

I'm the luckiest guy alive. It's my cardboard box upright
bass that's gaining celebrity status; I'm merely the box bass
valet. I'm losing my mind, or the box bass is actually
developing a personality/ character. Here's yesterdays series
of events: I called home and talked to my 8 year old son. He
said that some guy named Clint called, but daddy was at work
so Chad hung up the phone. I though it was no big deal at the
time and said that I'd be home just after 7pm. I got another
call from my bass- making- partner telling me that somebody
claiming to be part of the Clint Black/Dwight Yoakum tour is
inviting me to meet the band if I bring my cardboard box
bass.

With the magic of You Tube, this month in NOTABLE we direct you to Andy Gill's guitar playing on "He'd Send in the Army", circa 1980. He turned my
thinking upside-down when I saw The Gang of Four that
year. Watch
the video. Unbelievable. Recently Andy sent a "quote" to
add to our EASTWOOD Website, to which we are greatful. "The thing we all love about guitars from the 50's and 60's
is the sense that they were inventing new instruments - not
yet shackled by electric guitar conventions. Take that
idea - put it with something that is made and finished very
well - you have an Eastwood guitar - a guitar for
non conformists." Andy Gill - The Gang of Four

This month Michael Molenda, Editor of Guitar
Player Magazine, has given the EASTWOOD GP his Editors
Pick award. Here are some exerpts: "The GP uncorks massive
wail and bombast that pays homage to classic Les paul tones,
while simultaneously being much more agressive. The treble
output of the bridge pickup is extreme and it works
brilliantly with fuzzboxes, driving the buzz to ecstatically
scream-o levels while still maintaining a fair degree of note
articulation. User forums have described the GP as being built
like a tank, and I concur. If you are into heavy rock and
metal styles, this is a formidable partner - a supercharged ,
doom- style marine killing machine, in fact - and I still
can't believe it goes for just $649 street. It's a
tremendous value, so it deserves and Editors Pick
Award".
