Yes, the original was an inexpensive pawnshop prize. Although many collectors will snap up this replica for nostalgia sake, modern players will be pleased to see this is a professional instrument. Solid Mahogany body with a SET maple neck and bound rosewood fretboard. High output custom designed humbucker neck pickup peels off those BUZZCOCKS riffs in fine form. In fact, Pete has been using his re-issue STARWAY on stage since it was released. So, although 88 were made, when you deduct the contest models, Pete's own personal ones and the ones tucked away for EASTWOOD (me!), only '76 are available for you! Don't wait too long or they will be GONE.
HISTORY - Borrowing money from friends and family, the band released their SPIRAL SCRATCH EP in January of 1977.on their own New Hormones label, making BUZZCOCKS the first punk group to establish an independant record label and setting the stage for a revolution in the music industry. The guitar - which in true punk fashion was broken in two pieces - was used exclusively on the recording and in live performances before Pete retired it in 1978. Pete kept the original guitar and the top half remained in the care of early BUZZCOCKS member, Howard Devoto. The two parts were recently united at the opening of the flagship Doc Martens shop in Manchester, UK.
If you are a BUZZCOCKS fan you should grab one of these fast.
